16 Whitlingham – visiting Caistor St. Edmund, Framingham & Bramerton

Enjoy riding along the shore of the two new Broads away from traffic in Whitlingham Country Park plus the opportunity of exploring the Roman ruins at Caistor St. Edmunds.

Whitlingham’s new broads were excavated during the 1990’s, creating facilities for watersports, fishing, cycling and walking. You can visit Venta Icenorum, a former Roman administration centre built around AD70 and an important Roman establishment for more than 300 years. Nearby, the Caister Hall Hotel serves refreshments with ample space for bike parking. An optional detour on the route takes in some great views of the river at Surlingham.
